[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]
I’m not sure where the hell Fear the Walking Dead is heading with Madison and Troy but it’s starting to make me equals parts nervous and nauseous. She talked him down from killing (or perhaps raping) her, but I don’t think it’s likely to be his last attempt to do either, given his cellular necessity to channel is rage somewhere. Madison keeps saying she’s got this, and I seriously hope she does.
It’s not a spoiler to tell you that they and the rest of the scout team make it home to the compound, where the action stays this week, but their returns sparks opposing reactions from the inhabitants. Some feel they are no longer safe with the Native Americans determined to reclaim the land and others feel there’s nowhere safer to be anymore.
That rift extends into the Otto family as they struggle with the growing disquiet among their people. Jeremiah confides in Nick, Jake talks to Alicia, and Madison lets Troy reveal his own truth, which is getting more and more violent and unstable, in pieces.
The upside there is that Clarks are still connected enough to each other, even as they move somewhat away from their tight nuclear family, to still talk frankly to each other about themselves and the larger mission.
Programming note — the summer season ends next Sunday with two episodes back to back.
