Orphan Black Preview: “Let The Children and Childbearers Toil”

[General spoilers ahead.]

There’s not a whole lot to go on from the publicity info on this week’s Orphan Black, but it looks like after bidding adieu to Alison (I really, really hope temporarily), we’re settling back into Sarah, Rachel, and Cosima’s worlds. And Felix gets a visit from his sister who’s not a clone when Adele blows back into town.

This is the formal logline: Following up on intel from a mysterious source, Mrs. S heads on the road with Sarah to investigate a lead on a Neolution defector. Meanwhile, an unexpected reunion takes place on the island, while Cosima’s research leads her to a terrible discovery.

But back to last week’s episode for a moment–major heebies that Rachel planted the seed in Kiera that dissecting or abusing an animal might be really cool. I seriously hope S. smacks that notion right down and Kiera’s caught before she actually does anything harmful.

What I did love about the episode was that Alison went full circle in a way, in the current timeline and as she reflected back on (and we saw) who she was before the sestras landed quite literally on her doorstep. You’d finally hit a breaking point, too, especially if you’d gotten sober and it hadn’t really fixed anything for you. Clarity away from things is exactly what she needs, and she’s taking it for herself. Donnie was perfect in realizing she had to go if she was ever going stay. I liked, too, that her slip was just a slip.

Orphan Black airs Saturdays at 10/9c on BBC America in the US and Space Channel in Canada. Here’s a sneak peek.
