Black Lightning: Cress Williams Cast As Jefferson Pierce

The DC superhero pilot from mega-producer Greg Berlanti was recently greenlit by the network. If it goes to series, that will make it the fifth DC show on The CW for Berlanti. The possibilities for crossovers between The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow next season are endless.

Deadline reports that executive producer/writer Salim Akil will also direct the Black Lightning pilot. The character was created by writer Tony Isabella and artist Trevor Von Eeden in 1977. Williams has also appeared on Veronica Mars, Grey’s Anatomy, Prison Break, Friday Night Lights, Code Black and many other television series dating back to his Beverly Hills, 90210 debut in the early 90s.
