Marvel’s street-level heroes The Defenders finally team-up this summer and Entertainment Weekly has our first look.
In all honesty, it seems like just yesterday that Marvel announced this epic endeavor alongside Netflix. Rebooting Daredevil seemed like a risk after the not so well-received flick starring Ben Affleck. However, when Season 1 hit Netflix on April 10, 2015 it blew people’s minds. The fight choreography was insane. Naturally, the network quickly renewed the show for a second season, which was not part of the original plan. Later that year on November 20, 2015, came Jessica Jones and BOOM… another hit! That series introduced Luke Cage as well and after Daredevil’s second run, Power Man’s solo series debuted on Netflix September 30, 2016. All three series have been renewed for additional seasons, plus Daredevil spawned a Punisher spin-off series. To say Marvel and Netflix are killing it with these shows is an understatement.
The one “Defender” we have yet to meet is Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist), but there’s no doubt audiences are going to fall hard for the orphaned martial artist on March 17. Keep an eye out for much more on Iron Fist in the coming months. Supporting cast members from all four solo adventures are scheduled to appear throughout The Defenders eight episode miniseries.
One more thing, Sigourney Weaver plays the big bad… what?!?
